INTRODUCTION

Music interests and Concerts through the years. Life and memories and drink and good times are lost to the long ago now. I was actualy quite a live gig fan and kind of miss all that now. Horn speakers and lake pipes, keyboards and wah wah pedals, everything. The good ole bad times, hitching and eventualy strolling up to some place and cool sounds and more drinks and munchies!

I'll fill in more as I somehow remember, but for now . . .

BITS

Life means anything and everything . . .

Finding the things you personally enjoy can take the longest times in life . . .

My old favourite things include a thinking head, a romantic heart, loving someone warm and true but knows how to be professional in life - and honest, relaxed happy people, keeping old speakers, old electric motors, a guitar or two, maybe a keyboard too, old cassette radio's, turntables but not smelly radiograms, old clever gadgets, potentiometers, all sorts of light bulbs, old tapes and LP's and singles, old pocket knives, good shoes for your spine, old cooking methods, keeping a tidy home, yummy lite foods, meaningful books, films that really do offer a new comfort about our humanity - but also truth, awakening and sleeping at the same times, and a food cupboard, letting music or lover carry me off and away, many other things . . .

And building ideas, and projects and stuff that helps life for folks somehow . . .

Having fun in life, not having neverending or pointless arguments.

Wasting your energy on silly things hurts everyone.

Or damages folks spirit for life . . .

MEMORIES

There's nothing like memories to slide back into while travelling through life . . .

So there I woz a kid with KISS posters all over the walls my parents wondering what on earth and a cassette tape that I hunted for downtown. From the moment you press play KISS Alive II comes to your ears by way of a massive cheering crowd, before you know it you're rockin' it in your room.

Use your imaginarium and you're there among the crowd and noise . . . so great ! ! !

ELO - ZOOM, 2001

I just so really wish i'd been able to get along to this show downtown here . . .

If only it hadn't coincided with a bad year in a few different ways, mums passing, and terror . . .

Outside all the great songs there has always been one music I have held dearest than all others. Easily Jeff Lynne's ELO music won through in so many ways, moments of time where feelings, atmospheres, and decisions might have had very different outcomes, as we ponder life.

Within all the greatest hits, as if not grand enough one album that too many turned away, echoed through all of this life, it would take great insight to produce Time. For me the epitome of music.

It travels all places, as you travel listening to greatness, worlds away, your world unravels.

So a profound thank you to Jeff Lynne and ELO in all your forms.

This and many lives would have been very different.

the years come closer to passing. PLEASE

do not throw away any form of recording !

So, where was I that year . . . ?

A year full of interesting and crazy things, like not long before beginning my second only webpage, the terrorist planes hit the towers and other locations, my mum passed away but got to see her the previous day, and i caught a couple of guys smashing a building, typing out a few programs, writing a webpage, putting up with spine pain. Going through various bits of hell. But in amongst all that i never got to see ELO at one of our local stadiums. But one day just out of the blue i happened to find their Zoom dvd at marbecks in queens arcade - yay !!!

This dvd is as good as being in a fans crowd...

Thanks for the show Jeff.

KISS Unmasked Concert 1980 Western Springs . . .

https://youtu.be/hDyMnN2EliM

The day of kiss, third of december nineteen eighty, was a fine afternoon . . .

By the time kiss came to town we had star wars in our souls, we'd seen and heard them through mags and telly. I was just about gone from home, couldn't wait to leave the misery. This was the band i'd been waiting for, the ultimate escapism. Body already going through medical op's, every day had already started being harder but there was so many more years to come that i never expected to happen. Jobs and hassles and politics. Cousins getting married, uncles dying. I was halfway through the army and doing my advertising course too, everything. A bunch of us walked down the hill with beers, some with wine bags being stashed under leather jackets and silk vests to see us through the show, smokes and lighters down boots, turning up in my leather pants so damned tight they'd get hotter in the steam of the forty thousand crowd soon enough, tall and skinny and fun with mirror shades and an instamatic. We see the
bigfoot van and go coool! Leaning back on the front trees smoking on the lovely afternoon grass, finaly getting up and walking through the gate with great wonders awaiting our hearts, we get our big yellow tickets torn and get by security, slowely finding the best place right smack bang in the middle and slightly back ready for the crowd crush was the way we planned it. Looking behind us back up to the trees and other gate we were soon joined by all the other fans. Starting to get darker now and we can see the sun going down behind the huge kiss logo rig and looking up at the mirror ball front and center, we're just so gone we open our mouths as we look up at the spotlight touching it and it's starting to turn, the sparkley light and the confetti goes off and the first song begins. Haa haa we're rockin and spittin' out paper, so funny! Absolutely everything we knew all the songs and licks and tricks and thumping guitars, just so darned great!! And young guys and chicks with make up on, gene, paul, peter and ace, everything! One after the other all the fav hits, i stole your love, ladies room, shout it out loud, the beat through our legs and chests, suddenly remembering my camera i just start snapping photo's, god of thunder, detroit rock city, rock'n'roll all night and party every day, let me go rock'n'roll, perfect colours and sounds, so many neato highlights, a once in a lifetime memory, a great crowd cheering and us singing so loud!!! Final songs and encore and skyrockets and more cheering, the cool night starting to bite our naked arms as folks began slowely disappearing for their cars heading off home. A night to never forget forever. Some of us were happy to just sit there on the ground listening to the post show tape they put on and watching the roadcrew undoing mic's and starting to pack up already. Heads still buzzing - Thank you kiss!!! Full of cold sweat we walked off back up the hill our ears still ringing, another smoke and yawning by then. Our long afternoon. I still have my kiss programme in a memories box somewhere, and over the next week i would draw a picture of peter criss' drum kit in pointile upon leftover green wrapping paper, but never quite finished it. I would buy a few more kiss records and tapes to complete my collection, with posters all over my bedroom wall i really have no idea how i got away with it. Dad would look curiously and grunt, while mum would just say that's all nice but when are they coming down so we can see the wallpaper again? She would get her wish over the following month, just like one of my siblings, i would be long gone out into the world. As more times went past i joined the video club over in flinders and got a few vcr tapes. Even entered a shopping mall kiss makeup competition and won a music voucher. The kiss phantom of the park movie all of it. Of course all the other artists music was playing alongside but once in a while i'll watch a video, they were here at just the right time in our lives.

This life has truly been the opposite of everything i believed to be good growing up around others who just enjoyed saying everything in a contrary and negative way and with no love for life.

But this was one of the best days of my lifetime. Nothing went wrong.

All back to work and study the next day.

[ ...perhaps i'll put a photo up of bigfoot ? ]

VIDEO REPAIRS

A short tutorial that's a really long time coming for those who care . . .

How the years go by so fast, our memories of our lives are lost in time . . .

This is a little tutorial for tidying up olde music videos you may still have . . .

DOWNLOAD After finding an old copy online, most likely from video cassette it was time to
clean up a range of areas. First up was some preparation, download a medium quality copy of
the video only as anything higher for this age would be unlikely, and the video shown had
all the telltale signs of age. The number one reason to clean up any video is to extend its
life so future others may get to see the talents of others in times past. Your guiding
principle needs to be only touch upon what it really does need done to it, and no more.

PREPARE Startup flvtoavi and save out the downloaded.mp4 as a 'saved.mp4' for later use when
recombining all of its elements. Keep the downloaded version to one side in a separate
folder so you can play them side by side later on, for comparing how well you did at
cleaning up. Restart the same program and load the same file you just saved to extract the
downloaded.mp3, and save this alongside the saved.mp4 It's down to exactness, don't just
save the audio from the first run, take it from the saved.

COLOUR Starting with the video component first is always the best idea, run virtualdub, the
latest that opens .mp4 files. (otherwise find an mpeg file parser: mp4 splitter, or plugin).
First thing to do is check the filters > hsv adjust > with preview open and the image
scrolled across to a wider scene to consider the overall colours values displayed. Make only
a very slight adjustment here. Of the three controls, Value should be only one you need to
move. Be sure, glide along the preview and judge, and finish.

SHARP While inside filters > sharpness > with preview open and this time the image scrolled
to either the start title or end credits, and adjust for best clarity and readablity. The
edges of the fonts you see on screen should not be so tight as to shrink the characters or
cause an inset line to appear, and not so untouched as to still look blurry from the
original. Select the best level of sharpness on the slider. Remember single frames of
sharpened image can look awkward but look brilliant in play mode as the frames fly past the
viewers eyes. Be sure, glide along the preview and judge, and finish. (Remember our antenna
systems back in the day caused 'ghosting' and added a horrible line to the right of shapes!).

CROP There's only one reason you need to use a crop filter, when vcr's recorded telly back
in the day the entire image was often set slightly left or right onscreen, either at
broadcast or at the tuner inside the vcr, and was therefore captured to tape offside. To
give both a tidy look and cover any furry border around the frame you need to crop with
increments of 10px on any two opposing sides (horiz, or vert), or 20px on a single side
remembering the aim of this edit is to also keep the whole viewing frame as close to origin.
All four sides of even balance but not covering any of the video content within. It's all a
matter of what balance you can mindfully obtain with your tools, abandon any fix that leaves
it lopsided, remain natural to the origin, a nice clean sharp black around the sides. Check
you entered whole numbers before leaving otherwise your saved video will be unviewable.

NOTE Remember with these repairs above that video tape colours used to bleed across to the
right of each object over the screen, you can never remove this, likewise with any white
tracking lines at bottom of the screen unless you are taking your initial mp4 off of that
medium, in which case your olde recorder front panel may still have a vertical adjust dial
or by using the up/down channel on your remote to align the vcr playing frames more
steadily. Nothing can be done about any existing 'ghosting' onscreen, it was the antenna
used at the time not being directed on your roof correctly towards the broadcast mast back
in the day. Leave the old audio in the file, choose an mpeg-4 compression, and Save the file
as name.avi

SOUND Now for similar repairs for the audio file, make a few copies of the .mp3 before
beginning. Raising the Gain of a poor olde recording. Open MP3GainGUI and select a copy of
the saved.mp3 file, you may need to check the full graphic size of the value you adjust by
briefly loading it into audacity to view the upper/lower limits, do this all again with
another copied file and not the original. It needs to sound full but not looking clipped
with edges out to the side or red marks throughout. Throw tester copies away. The best one
will be the file you work upon.

FILTERS Startup audacity and load the best of the 'gain' saved.mp3 file from above. As with
all of this tidying project, the main goals are to not mess with the content and not change
the length of the video or audio. Onwards, in the earliest days vcr's output only mono
audio, so the file you have loaded may only look half of a stereo track. It cannot be used
in this format, you need to use the left dropdown menu > split stereo to mono, then delete
the empty track off your screen, and save the mono track as mono.mp3 Now load that saved
mono.mp3 and it will appear under the existing single track, simple > make stereo track. You
now have two mono tracks joined together onscreen. The next part comes down to personal
choice by appreciating the software, for me it's (finding and using...) the mda-stereo
filter for audacity. It will, over the length, give a fairly decent resemblance of what the
two identical tracks contain, into a good stereo sound.

VCR some old vcr recorders introduced both a little rumble and hiss onto the tape, which
sounds awful through our modern sharp clean audio headphones or amplifier speakers. Truth is
there's never going to be a lot you can do about rumble except take time to play with a
filter, drum notes will remain sounding as they are, however you can certainly remove some
of the top off any hiss. Find and put the andreas brunner js-eq10 graphic equalizer filter
into your plugins folder. Experiment with the 4, 8, 16k sliders, or mainly 8, and make test.mp3
saves and have a listen through your headphones for the missing hissing. But don't take too
much away otherwise the track will have no upper treble high's left. You shouldn't hear
hssssssssss throughout any scene when completed. Save your tidied up stereo track to
stereo.mp3

RECOMBINE Time to put it all together. Open virtualdub and load name.avi from above. Select
the compression, which for me is div-x fast motion, seems to do okay unless you're looking
to rebroadcast over telly. Next go to audio and select > audio from other file > and load
stereo.mp3 and then simply save all as one file to video.avi and view the resulting repairs
alongside the origin you kept aside. Filters that could have been tried was DeShaker to
quiet the original filming left and right movements, and vst stereoizer or surrounder for
personal listening purposes.

So why repair old video's, because you cannot find them ever again these days and years long
after their heyday! Because the true originals are often long gone too with their owners
decades ago, sadly. And because great ideas and video practices get lost over time. Wouldn't
we all rather experience them, than to never know they existed?

Of course we would, happy video repairing folks !!!

I would like to have shown you the clip i had tidied up for everyone else but it appears every kind of thing is considered illegal these days, so sorry for a world that has lost its way with fairness.

Everything is just seen as money, by THEIR values shouldn't have anything to do with learning...

There's just never any end to all this messed up foolishness . . .

Help preserve as many as you can videophiles !

Never mind i guess ? Sad !

A few more pointers...

The main reason to perform defrag's between tidy-ups is to keep your file playing, and for
editing software to pickup the file off the drive all smoothly. Other reason is to not build
up drive fragments from doing multiple saves.

Also, set vdub to the 'Lower' processing priority in line with your cpu ability over a
longer time period.

Use the Smoother filter at 100% and tick the pre-filter too. (read its filter note).

. . . really good for your olde vcr tapes !

again for newbies...

VDub, before your first video dub...

By the way the first thing you should do when you get VirtualDub home from Online is
change its Priority settings to something a little slower so you don't exhaust your
laptop. After unwrapping it goto Options > Preferences > Process priority > Lower.

This setting allows you to walk away while processing a video with various filters.

The longer the video the slower will be kinder to your machine !

filter note...

If requiring a Logo filter : use Logo v1.7 and not Logo. That 1.7 gives a smaller overall filesize,
but you just need to wait longer rendering. Size can be important when needing to upload.

Here's a video i really like . . .

Linda McCartney - Oriental Nightfish (Official Video)

. . . more than beautiful to me !

.

( ...other qualities versions exist ! )

and before we leave...

vdub - Tricks of the trade...

We all know if we happen to get a video that saves wonky on replay, we need to redo it with
a different codec than our favourite, perhaps the cinepack one to at least see a rendition.

And we all know how that wonky output comes about, by entering a hurried number in one of
the four crop corners, rather than sticking to multiples of twenty on each.

Of course you can break that rule and put ten on each and it will come out fine with say the
divx-fast motion upon replay, but what about the video that doesn't want to be edited ...?

Try this, or a combo of things with this being the last, take just one off of the left and
right only, even if you're working on a first saved radius, and re-save.

Chances are you may get that thirty degree line removed and the video viewable again, if you
do one side do the other too, go back to the original or presaved.

...hopefully !

AUDIO REPAIRS

An example only of what you would need to do . . .

Sometimes there isn't anything about the Video quality that needs adjusting at all, but
rather some unfortunate Audio issue...

Quite often in the early years of internet uploads folks came across thundering bass all the
way through a track, sometimes caused by the way it was recorded and then presented as
normal by whoever. Problem was they recorded it through their soundcard with their equaliser
still set to the favourite local speakers sound output !

Some even recorded station to station through another audio software (or video capture with inbuilt eq) via soundcard, either way the audio comes out not as intended by mr jones !

There is NOTHING worse than clipping upon your audio card or inside your headphones !!!

By the time it was replayed on their's or anothers laptop or player it had become full of
thick heavy icky bass, missing or messy midrange, with no or squeaky treble !

Anyone remember David Bowie's soundtrack from the film Christianne F ? in the scene where we
are outside looking at the stadium, before walking in we hear the song begin, and as we
enter the door it's a mixture of whispy cold night air mixed with only the treble so far,
because we're not, the mic is not, close enough to pick up the bass and drums yet.

Every time i have ever played that LP i've needed to change my stereo's tone settings right down
heavily to make it even half acceptable to my ears !

Yes, we realize it's an intended Live sound, but it comes through extremely sharp !

On the video clip side of this its much harder, begin by separating the Audio out, as above
in the video tutorial. You can go about changing this track one of two ways, with a
shortened Equaliser with only say five good sliders that cover most of the changes needed,
or the longer ten slider style that will take you longer to accomplish with lots of minor
tinkering here and there. I prefer the five slider.

What you're looking for is to keep a standard bass that doesn't rumble like so many earlier
yt postings by others, while at the opposite end having just one sonic 16,000hz up high, and
everything else between set - in relation to the existing audio you have - to a strong but
audibly smooth sound. Make various test passes with an Eq filter until you've achieved the
best likeness possible.

It has to be listenable through both Headphones and the more volumistic Speakers around you,
some go further by plugging into a small three inch speaker so as to appear like a radio
quality sound test too. Infact if it sounds alright there chances are you've got it correct.

Now instead of a sharp disturbing sound, from the outset as it begins should be warmer but
not at all strong, because as we enter the stadium that strength will have suddenly already come
upon your ears and any overly changes by your judgement and the sound will be overdriven, it's
why its imperative that you check in with each of the three quantatives over the track as you
adjust the Eq : start treble, middle treble, near-end treble need to be given a tonal median
quality, just One Better Overall adjustment !

Now recombine audio with clip - but again just have a listen as it plays to check all is well.

And so whatever track you've applied this technique to, simply listen to that from now on.

Way more pleasant among a whole range of other music you might have on today !

Enjoy !

Gif Animation - editing ideas...

Most animations are set far too fast, sit back and appreciate how slower gives you more...

- Pause at beginning, and the end, to appreciate the start, and not miss the last moment

- A set of quickly Slowing frames, along to a brief pause hightlight, then returning again.

- Remember to remove image Bounce (few frames) if placing a reverse set under main frames.

- Know when, on balance of the best features being noticed, when to crop slightly tighter.

- Appreciate when there's a standard opportunity to crop and rotate, say one smaller area

- Choose when to halt the end frame for perhaps 200 so you can take-in an abrupt ending.

...and always avoid setting the frame rate at manic playing speeds !

...you want people to view, not skip past it !

...space, way, way nicer !

By the way, separately while i'm here, too many don't know how to reflect realtime timing - properly !

IF you have say 3 frames, and whatever it is - is at rest to begin with, and then changes direction...

Don't make that first frame the longest ! - not if its obvious that's the start of it ! make shortest !

And then the 2nd, and 3rd frames, are leading quickly to an important final position...

Make those two long and longest times ! - not all the other way around !

Say, 1st = 30, 2nd = 70, and 3rd = 90 . . . more realistic !

Think like a cartoon would happen !

btw : you DONT need more frames of the same image ! - use individual timinge to effect !

. . . it keeps the filesize down too !

. . . oh, and avoid doing packed gif's either, leave all your frames colours intact !

. . . better !

Open Up Life . . .

Music Research Proposal.

. . . so we can enjoy !!!

|

It is still illegal to Copy...

We only have our memory humming...

Some things in life have no accepted way into them...

Basic human things should never ever be this difficult or worrying...

At some point you realise it's just as worth pursuing normal fairness in life...

HARSH COPYRIGHT REASONING IS LOCKING US OUT OF FINDING OUR

OLDER STILL ENJOYABLE FOR OUR AGE GROUP MUSIC, EXECUTIVES ! ! !

Years ago i located a wonderful track that was heard for decades but couldn't find the
artist or even title and was rarely played over the radio, only had it on an olde tape. So
thinking of a way to find out i would enter lyrics in searches or even to audio pages to see if
it could be deciphered audibly, but still never any luck due to being so new idea...

Eventualy it made it's way onto the tube and asking for any info, but no sooner than was
someone jumping down all over me claiming i was bad and doing Copyright things which clearly
wasn't true at all in the purest sense. I have since had that bitter reason to not try further.

Every single day music gets lost forever either localy because no one has heard it, or heard
of a rare song, or internationaly due to lack of overall interest because of the latest
music types passing it by and leaving it behind. Forever lost without kindness.

The music industry wholey has never held itself interested publicly on behalf of artists to
even consider helping people to find the name, track, album, date of old or even any music
over the many years, and one is left to ponder obscurity forever instead of actually getting
hold of a legitimate purchased copy to keep and play for enjoyment, that very thing all
music was originaly intended for, no matter its age or your own years left.

They say its pretty diabolical if you were to try by way of a copy to match it up with but
offer nothing more than a very long stretch of trying to locate your track by listening for
years to some online purchase site to see if you get lucky, there's not even a way to send
it to them to ask their own staff who it may be, so closed off is the desire to help in a
world that is still actually growing, no matter what history our globe's been through.

Hard to find - can be impossible to find - under such copyright restrictions and conditions
and it needs to have the authoritive cold shoulder removed so people can get on with life
listening to the sounds they surely grew up with. Those who simply go for the existing or
newer sounds haven't a care for any of this issue, until one day they may go looking.

It's neither fair nor normal to have to forget about a great track or album to your soul only
to be forced to never get anywhere, to have to forget trying, to go back around again one
day '...Some years ago realising it was about time i found the name of an old track that i
really liked forever i went about finding it...' when you really miss it still.

I propose that the entire music industry allows just a plain strictly 30 Seconds out-take of
the music you are searching for and upload it to any audio website for the purpose of
information feedback, to get to the bottom of its origins, the basic name data only, before
removing it permanently. This single ability would do huge benefit for folks everywhere.

The Working Proposal . . .

1 ) Anyone can upload an Unknown strict 30 Second sample.mp3 ( and is played as 30secs in any case )

2 ) Anyone browsing this specific purpose site can Play, and then Comment below the details.

3 ) After a certain preselected number of replies the filename.mp3 is deleted forever.

4 ) Site software ensures no number of samples can add up to a whole track.

5 } The rest of the research is upto the Searcher to find it's lyrics

...or indeed openly shopfind or purchase a song copy.

( server would only need limited space )

( for rapid turnaround results )

It would literally be only a Comment Site with limited Audio ability !!!

With absolutely no other functions connected into it !!!

No links, zero anything else !!!

This would finaly resolve for many the multiple tracks they have been searching for years at
a time. And to help give better credit to the musician/s who made that work originaly and
laterly. To allow people the original enjoyment that has been missing all of these decades.

Please listen to this music proposal idea now before ever more years have left us.

Please release a view by Worldwide Notice we can research freely now.

ME

The Train Set.

Real life is not cold cut, it's built of every type of thing occuring over time...

I went searching for a memory about twenty years ago, and found a very small poor quality photo of it online, but even then it was tucked away half hidden by other rail toys. Money for the family was so tight back in the day that dad had to piece together the train set he would eventually just hand me, before just leaving the room (see p1). I've been doing huge lump searches on and off for all these years, even drawing a picture of it half way through, but no one had seen one like it. Turns out it was considered vintage even at that time, just yesterday to me, this boy. Memories are important because they ensure we never forget where we came from in life, reminds us of what else was going on, partly gives us values. He got it from what would be a soon to be going out of business hobby shop in a local mall some miles away, ironicaly i would end up working as a shop assistant pretty much right there close by after leaving school. The older chap had told dad he couldn't see much more use for these things, people just didn't desire them much now. One part was a battery powered train controller, yellow with a red dial that belonged to a small plasticy starter set, took four batteries and put out only six volts. Dad bought an R52 0-6-0 steam shunting engine with british railways emblem and other loose livery from the shop, an R564 yellow cement wagon, R16 red and white brake van, and R19 grey flat deck with a bail atop, you'll find a video describing it as a Jinty 3F, it was nicely put into a spare red and yellow box with some track and a connector and paper bag, is how i remember it. I would eventualy fifteen years ago view a similar specific boxed set in an online triang museum. I kept the set minus the controller that seemed pointless for all the power it ran out of years before, used a power adapter. Eventually it got mislaid or thrown away without realising, it would become a sad realisation, a sort of testament of why couldn't i bother to look after things properly? More time passed away and i'd take it out of storage and lay it on the tracks not really knowing why as i was travelling between careers, putting it all away forever again, i even made a replacement front footstep that had come away at one point, simply grabbed some aluminium and hacksawed and filed it into shape, stuck it on. Things like moving house happen, tidying the storage happens, memories become enough to contain, even my software cassette recorder, how we wrote programs and saved them, would befall the bin mistakenly, and the years of blame for each of things, stupid. Everyone bursts, and mine was the trainset, thankfully the only actual one, others i knew did it harder. I had this great ideal thirty years ago that if i just left it on top of the bin lid i could take the day to decide whether i wanted it any longer, to finaly remove such a horrible childhood by the material things themselves, and that why would i ever want to keep it anyway, trains weren't for someone looking for jobs, no time to play at that age now. Bye dad, it somehow got into the bin and left my possesion for ever after, and i wasn't and never have been very dissapointed about it. It hadn't served to make me happy as a child in a house where we had depressed parents, it hadn't been joyful all along the interim to older age, it was neither expected
nor desired to come with me to the very end of days. It was more like an object that shouldv'e been given up much earlier on but that i hadn't known how to do that, in part because it was expected we children keep every single thing ever given to us, and because it was apparently a permanent reminder of their love for us, even if they actually didn't. You don't hit your children that way if that story were to be correct, to be carried forwards in your heart of hearts. No. Ask any of my sibblings and they'll tell you a similar story of an item and loss. Real life over the eons in our white family are recognisable and writable for only a relative few of my generation, they didn't necassarily have parents from different places that had gone through so very much and then put their own kids through hell that they thought was normal. I know my lot, sadly. I have lived on, there's a bunch of things that are along the same lines, forever being forgotten, they're called terrible memories. Please don't give yours poorly memories that last a lifetime like ours did, and try leading the happiest life forwards that you can yourself too, please for the sake of ever more others.

Tonight i finally found a photo, you can see the red and yellow controller at
bottom left.

Not that you should ever have to, but i speak because i tried ending, but living on.

IF your'e right there now, go find some new life and start that, smile !!!

Make your way along the road, understand much more !!!

We all stay young by being open with self !!!

Others don't believe our age !!!

No longer tied down !!!

Just real older !!!

Jeff. 20/10/20.

Lovely Olde Tape Gear . . .

Denon DRM-600 / DRW-830 Cassette Decks . . .

One of the things i appreciated most about the above models...

Was it detected when F/R had come to the Leader tape...

And how shutting that function off early to save it...

Most of all other cassette decks, depending on

the motor power and momentum would literally

cause your tape to bunch-up as it tightened

hard at the end of the f/r run, causing in

turn a majority of the first half playing

slightly faster than normaly intended by

the musical artist. It also meant that

your favourite tape would have a lower

lifetime, by that tape area becoming

therefore harder tape material, not

remaining flexible, and often made

worse by being left that way, not

some tape left unplayed and more

relaxed inside the cover for

months or years, or in the

car getting sun cooked !!!

I now use a more friendly

Onkyo TA-2029 deck as it

has far more open head

space and mechanism.

Letting the tape

flow freely !!!

MEMORIES

How we all lived . . .

In a world where various policies simply don't love people anymore . . .

If you collect memories, please do photograph or film or record the item for the rest of the world . . .

You don't need to be selling something in order to display them for others to enjoy . . .

But first, I miss the old note money that you could stash away in your tight upper jeans pockets. Over a long while you'd build up a thick wad of these gorgeous pale brown and thin black one dollar or lilac and thin black two dollar notes. For which you could get a fifty cent coin back after you bought something. I miss the smell of real paper money too. And beautiful line drawings of our country's birds on the other side. When you held them, it felt like money really meant something, a real belonging that you could spend with pride and joy and respect. These days one hardly sees the bigger notes as they're spent from your bank before you even know it. Where's it all gone. You know if I had my own fish and chip shop I would have lemons right there on the counter top. In the old days people would bring in lemons from their tree for folks to have for free. Other shops would leave a slice of lemon on your fish in the paper packets too. I miss the best of the old days.

All your knowledge travels with you through life, we just don't need it daily . . .

This is where teddy comes into the picture . . . You are not too old for it !!!

Way, wayyy back, decades ago, for a few years there our family would trim and string crimped crepe paper corner to corner and across the living room ceiling, and balloons, and pinking scissors to make xmas hats, all us kids would be called on to balance on that pouf with a drawing pin and put up all the colours and lanterns to welcome Xmas and the New Year. Not forgeting silver and gold tinsel and baubles around the real Xmas tree. All of the love and lies. And yeah, it was kinda fun just through those much better family years before our parents became worse psychologicaly. Like opening the extending table and setting things out for our cousins to come over for a chicken and salad and potato lunch. But to be honest us kids started life as toddlers walking down the end of our road with the other little kids looking through the local open rubbish tip, shorts and bare feet, no one cared and it was fun looking through junk all afternoon, finding things that were no use but something interesting about it, remember this was in the days of wood sticks and nails tommy guns wood magazines out the side, very cool running around the place, then taking our bits back home to show mum. Sometimes i wonder if there's anyone still around who remembers the rare but great rock war back 1970 in the middle of our sports field, two great holes dug out with logs placed across, our den we would hide and throw at the others same pit fifty feet away, scary stuff and mud absolutely everywhere, and telling-off's. Flicking rubber bands and drawing pins on tech drawing seats. Cold tinsel xmas festivities. All of the false bravado that damaged. The day we were on the way home along the motorway from visiting further south when suddenly our wheel came flying forward out the front of the car because the axle had broken, being very small and young i hid down below dad's drivers seat and the back seat, and how dad had to glide to a stop with us kids sitting to one side to keep the car up. Need an easy to control LED Light over your laptop keyboard ?

If you've got an RS-232 port have a look at ' LEDSdriver ' by downloading it from slicksolutions

Solder an LED on the correct two pins and mount it along the top edge of laptop.

Have a play with mounting ideas along the top edge of your screen.

Program starts each time you startup down in system tray.

Type in bed or while you have that midnight snack.

Or see those faded keyboard letters again.

You can even fade it up and down.

EMPLOYMENT

Given that I have worked in the fields, outdoors, factories, workshops of lathes and milling machines and gas torches, the forces, offices, and official places here's a few of my favourite jobs of all time . . .

Best Outdoor Job Ever . . .

The one job I loved most was working with the iron furnace . . .

From the tough packing of walls, stocking up and breaking old steel, to firing up and stoking the tower, starting the turbine, the melting and pouring, the beauty of slag, shutting down and pulling the door, cleaning up and the smell of real work, seeing the many finished products.

Seeing how the molds were made, and the one off special metals projects.

. . . and getting ready for the next melt

[ greatest job for me ever - no matter what ]

(For historians, i don't believe obsidian is the same as cast iron slag, simply because slag cracks easily at ninety degrees through it, where as the other does form sharp edges, slightly translucent.)

Best Indoor Job Ever . . .

Grabbing cases of products and bottles of the things we all use in our lives and stacking on the shelves for everyone else to come and buy. You learn anything and everything about the products and the size of the cartons and packets and how they sit together alongside all the other items on sale. You can just get stuck in and stack all shift long if you like without any big chats.

[ second best peaceful job ever ]

Most Boring Job Ever . . .

Cutting the sprue off plastic injection products for hours on end.

Groups of us doing just that one task with nippers.

[ your eyes are going s l e e p y . . . ]

Wish they'd written the job card adverts like this actualy ! ! !

But all of it was great to be honest ! ! !

And one that I've left out is being a Cook.

Yummy and great ! ! !

Not forgetting how we all packed up, even the bosses, and went out the door

with our holiday pay in a thick brown envelope for the final time each year

for three weeks christmas and holidays ! ! !

Best moment ever Y A Y Y Y ! ! !

My own pat on the back, means i never yelled back at the manager or boss . . .

" I am not doing that rubbish ! " like so many i've heard through the years ! ! !

I was just always overjoyed to be away from my parents and their deadly quiet

house and learning and doing something with this body and mind to ever care

about stupid things i experienced next to a few others, doing something is

better than getting fired, making my new life was way more important ! ! !

Real shame no one ever understood that about this guy ! ! !

Seriously, get the job done and get home ! ! !

[ best job is the clean get it done without hassles and earn your money type job ]

PEDALS

Beyond the ' build your own ' Electronic Kitsets included instructions . . .

Having a strong overhead light over your project surface helps you see component values.

Check each component as you go to put them in so you don't need to re-solder later.

Always turn the circuit board to your seated position as you solder with the tip.

Avoid speed soldering, make better wetted connections, so the flux spreads over the joint.

Use a mini flatblade screwdriver to re-heat and separate a close pair of solder points.

Avoid setting components off the board with long wires which can introduce hum.

Add all small components first, large sockets near the end, and finaly your i.c's.

Use a magnifying glass to browse over your solder joints before powering up.

Keep any spare coiled solder that came with the project in your parts box.

Store your instructions sheet safely away for any repairs in later years.

On your way to changing your RTC (realtimeclock) battery, the Ribbon Cable to the keyboard

Hobby Corner : Repair Your Tools And $ave.

Very happy long term user found two issues with latest blue hobby tool. Original colour was
medium blue, one that came after was a dark blue, latest is a light blue plastic hand casing
with a more angled and inset switch. Read the following to mend or update...

1) This one bought in 2021 has a fairly course oscillation. Difficult to hold. Originaly
thought it was the spindle offset in motor, wrong, is actually the casing. At your own
leisure undo, and remove one side motor 'rubber padding' only. Leave the other. Shakes now
gone. No more bouncing around inside. Close and use.

2) The motor it came with tends to hesitate under the bit load, starting stopping. Most
likely motor style as same transformer used as previous, smoothly. At your leisure change
out the motor if prefered to a 'full power on' version of same type motor, not same series.
Now grind, cut, drill, without sudden stops.

3) Maintenance. Worn front shaft bearing hole can widen over the years. Use a thinnish
jewellers s/driver to tap out shaft from brass/chromed chuck while in vice. Then tap out
bearing from front, collect from inside. Find better bearing from motor junkbox and tap into
place from inside with same driver. Seat firmly before packing content back in and closing.

( The 'in vice' means sitting on the top plates barely holding the outset metal circle.)

( Intended as holding steady the downward pressure only.)

Adept, and aptitude, helps you maintain tools !

Easy!

Flipping Through Olde Books...

Hardcover ' Important People ' by J.H.Dowd 1934
( with pen pictures by Brenda E. Spender )

Most likely considered to be antiquated by many in our so called modern age. The beautiful
illustrations evoke their very own particular memory for each of us out at a beach and rocks
and with others as youngsters. Along with the short pages of storyline they are a glimpse
into our daily life back through time.

Have a look at a copy if you can find one. Among my favourites are; Climbers, Horsy Crowd,
Dashers, Days End, Fishing Nets, Diggers, Giant Steps (our hide and seek), Yachting!,
Lookers-On, A Pony Parley, A Last Look, and page 51 has one that looks like a photo of me
when little.

The reading of the various stories seems funny even to me, and would have back in the
seventy's too! Each one reflecting how mums and dads and brothers and sisters lived pieces
of life together.

They were the more innocent but hard money times while growing up !

Of Important People is all about children in our families !

Really thankful they wrote and drew this !

A good book !

LIFE

Life after being born, after home.

I could write a library of all i have experienced.

For all that had come before i simply couldn't wait to leave.

My soul forever, Frazey Ford - September Fields the sweetest voice

Began my life absolutely terrified of other human beings, the hardest life . . .

I would go on to say ' you couldn't pay me to go back there and live ' years later.

Moved to the city, downtown where there was no one, where there was peace and quiet forever.

We had a no phone landlord, if you needed police or ambo's you had to walk there, hard !!!

Living in old buildings alongside others with similar stories or just passing through.

. . . and some pretending to stop off but staying for the rest of their life

. . . a few leaving right there in their room as i nearly came to be too

. . . eventualy i left, You'll be back like the rest of us, said the old

These things below remind me of all those months and years . . .

' The Lonely City ' : Olivia Laing on urban solitude and art

The city is where i would begin my art advertising career

I would just walk and cry for all this new peace.

I loved the city it was my very best friend.

Song : Hollins Ferry, Lonely City

Just simply too many things.

To remember forever.

[ these authors have got it spot on ]

Weary of forever wary, chronic.

Good fresh people don't know.

( sadly, few can find that same sort of peace for all the policy that chases us humans daily )

( folks living the normal life will never know until their soul shows up )

( life should never be that way for any of us )

( peace always first )

At the moment i like . . . boy & bear - southern sun

-

Normal.

Blowing into your hands to keep warm.

Poor is when you can't afford things or go anywhere.

Broken is when broke forever exists, completely surpassed poor and you can actually think it
not imagine it, your brain hurts because this is not normal and you miss everything, it's
how your underclothes have now faded with little tears completely away and you wear your
jeans tee jacket and boots with religious socks both to work alongside clean others who can
afford all the very many little things that make up a liveable life, while wearing them to
bed as well. The rough material rubbing away parts of your always cold skin, a bit of blood
coming through the surface. And you try to figure out why those b's had to steal your only
undies out of the washing when they already knew you were so had it, just that little bit to
do for all those fifty cent coins what a rip off machine, while trying to figure out how to
make a plaster stick to that skin from getting all bad, And you wake the next morning
forever remembering how you got here in life, trying to figure out any kind of legit idea to
get back into the full life you had the first time around before, but right now how to find
something to eat and then get down there and on the train to arrive at work on time. You're
shivering no shaking at the cold concrete station waiting, wishing you had a jumper
underneath. And you smell to others, but your theory is germs die out over the hours, should
be okay so long as you get a bath, if no one else pushes you out or makes you rush or
complains about the water you've used. It's the one set, there are no others to wear. And
someone tears a piece of your clothing but you find some cotton and an undersized needle to
get through the denim, and you get stared at at work the next day 'about time you changed into some newer clothes dude!' a passing comment that you can't answer, just looking down over
yourself and raising your eyebrowse to them like a yep i'll get to it, but you're
desperately hoping they'll be too busy tommorrow to notice nothing about you. All the while
you're trying to figure out how to make that sixty five dollars get into your landlords
hands because they said it was due but they were apparently going out tonight and time will
be up and you worry what might happen tommorrow morning before work, it might be all over,
for real, and then what, you're a headcrash but others don't get it and saying anything
sounds lame. You walk up to the corner and get a burger and thickshake and smokes and sit on
some business step downtown feeding your face because except for a few chips and coke you've
had nothing all day. Then you hear from your dad that wants to come over and see where you
live, and to be honest you just think i really really cannot allow him to come see this
after all the years growing up at home with everything and its just rubbish its completely
beeping rubbish and what if mum wants to come along with him too. She'd just be so
completely broken and i can't let that happen, not after all she's been through in her own
times. To see her son like this was not okay with deeper me. I walk on down the main road in
the cool night air tom sauce still on my mo' the headlights going by. Sitting at the wharf i
watch the tinkley moonlit water and realize ten oclock's already and i've got to beepingwell
walk all the way back up with my tired all day labouring legs and feet. At least i'm not
shaking the food warmed me up enough. Looking at the shops on the other side heading back i
make myself try and think about what i'll do this coming staturday and sunday before
monday's work again, or maybe i'll just rest on the bed all day, stay away from that grumpy
guy upstairs sure he's on top shelf or trips, wish i had enough for a beer sometime, just
one would be really nice, actually maybe i'll sit in the sun for a bit out the front porch
on the sunday when it's quiet. How is it that others are so busy in life, people seem to
have so much to talk to each other about, still i'm glad i'm not back there. How is it no
one wanted to be likeable or friends after school, just shut it, really need to stop
thinking, seriously. Yeah i'll sit outside and think about how i can get onto another job
after this one finishes up. Or maybe i'll finaly walk into that hopeless telly room where
those others always are, landlord always wonders why i never watch with the others, what the
beep am i meant to say to that even? Tonight those two older guys are home and i don't want
to happen what they did to that other dude, just to my room fast. Sick of me sick of nothing
no life i tried ending but joined up and went training and came back drunk one night and
started the long road onwards to a better life for myself, all the screaming and shouting
and caring and learning and finding myself for the first time. Here i am decades later much
older, just so many many many days of the same misery back there, making no headway into
anything at all, afraid of tripping myself up doing all the things the other kids had
assured me i would do, sooner or later, so i never lived, never lived a day in my life, just
worked and slept. This is the real truth of the description of my life. Only thing that kept
me outside of anything else is there had to be something better, if only i could get to know
what that was meant to be. It turned out to be back in the burbs that i hated, with another
person, doing all the stuff everyone had already been doing themselves - the great fat
liars. Missed out on so much but had i really, nope. They'd all come and gone from the world
had kids fought stupid fights with each other because of some stupid memory from another
time long before - what i would've said if i'd known - stop wasting your days or nights guys
and girls, 'aint worth it. Live happy instead, live in peace without stupid stuff in your
heads. Most of all don't have a life like mine has been, is what i would have said out loud,
but no one would have been listening. Nope, half would've forgotten me, a quarter would
still hate me for nothing, and the last of them would be pulling my existence apart, is the
truth of it. I know because i've always measured my world accurately, no matter what. I can
tell you things people said fifty years ago and yet i don't actually hold any grudges,
amazing to be honest. Of course they'd tell it the other way, never mind, can't say anything
if there's always enough to disagree, even with each other, jeez.

This you may well wonder, but it was still all alot more peace.

Nothing good would've been for me.

Just plain truth.

When the kitchen fan goes POP!!!

Happened to you yet? Then you'll know about the
ginormous stinky up your nose immediately !!!

IF it's happening right now or after reading this then
quickly put it out the back door because they keep on
keeping on stinking the place out and its toxic !!!

Normaly we all just go and buy another fan but there's
another way if you need to save money these days...

IF you're really good with the soldering iron you could
replace the burned out yellow power capacitor !?

As an electrical hobbiest you'll know you need to be
mighty careful, starting with choosing the exact same
part number, literally there's three types for this.

Literally v1, v2, v3 capacitor, take a photo with you !

Match it up exactly and solder it well into place, but before
switching it back on you need to give it a good cleandown.

The reason it failed was because of all the usuall cooking
oils floating around the room and landing on and into
places like the shaft, bearing at the front, motor inside
via the breathing holes and so on until it's all entirely
gummed up, and the next time you turn it on it can't
start spinning-up easily or properly - PUFFF !!!

That is the capacitor exploding inside and turning molten !!!

That's when you see a cloud of smoke and you need to get
it and yourself out of there until it's cleared !!!

After a thorough clean with soap or lightly with thinners
in metal places, while keeping clear of the electrics.

Check with multimeter again before switching on !!!

Stop and buy one if you have problems !

...Best of luck !!!

EXPERIMENTAL

Compilations of my life experiences...

The things we leave behind means everything...

Every track has a life story behind it, put your headphones on...

If we could put a range of thoughts, feelings, and personal spirit, our life into music...

Each life contains an entire story, from before we begin the lives of families, the start of another and the children who grow to begin again, they carry with them experiences of other humans seen and heard and done, while they appear to be themselves within massive populations, one person.

We are unique like the music we make wherever we travel. All the suprised laughing, the sudden massive pain and crying that tears our soul, the injuries of falling and damage of loving, the space of a day can wreak havoc, spoken words last a lifetime but then vanish, we wonder where. Mistaken.

A long time ago in another life I played acoustic, messed about with drums, and keyboards. As chapters have turned into books and the shelf has become a library I felt a profound longing to express again before more future arrives, or goes. Recently I gained a new appreciation for my electric guitar.

These are all my own original imaginings, improvised impromptu escapist dreamscapes, something completely different from the rest of your day. Endeavouring to attain and attune my inner halcyon bird, soul and spirit. The drums merely a foothold to my stringwise desires. Sounds through fingertips.

Barely glued notes and chords, a two piece played and recorded in one take. I have fallen in love with my AVOne. These hands are a little tired these days, so while there's numerous mistakes they were alot of fun to play. They're not for sale, just download and play through your headphones. Keep.

This is one humans story of life upon some landscapes across a planet others have titled earth. It has been nothing like I was told, shown lead to believe or expected, opposites have occured more than easy rythm, others have lied and I have fooled myself and have somehow survived, but nearly not.

After Life sounds are witnesses at turning points and crossovers during my time. As somethings becomes finals those aware feel the new already taking place, we continue the next chapter. We remember and farewell hard, we cry for the simpler times that offered us hope in our next lives.

Sometimes its sad to fathom we leave near the end, sometimes its easy to consider something less, to wish for that which we cannot have, for us that which we will never ever have, giant leaps of realisations, the hope that others enjoy our company enjoy our love, we try. We are all first timers.

Such imaginations, wonderousness, seriousness, meaningfulness, interpersonalisations, expansive everythings a human would ever want, or not. Overwhelming but underwhelming, ironic moments. But truth wins through, kindness lends a hand, love takes its place by our side, we yearn for peace.

Our library becomes full sooner or later, the visitors have all long come and gone, peeks and reads and conversations, arguments over somethings, for the most we try our best for ourselves and others, we wonder. Turn the light out before moving on, close the door before stepping out, wave goodbye.

They're all interesting, some are intended to be enjoyed, some are not, some were made as I was
going through surgeries, or just hard life, or memories that still hurt. Things we all share.

Listen to the music of your memories as time travels on a little further, ponder great things always. It doesn't really matter what anyone ever says to you during your life. You be happy.

Just one last little touch on the door . . .

Just let it all go folks . . .

Be good . . .

Enjoy!

JP.

Just for headphones :

Become a wide head instead forever . . .

Something new for 2022 - Wide Stereo album versions . . .

Throughout above publishing years the audio was left to the listener to adjust by the equaliser settings displayed to hear the tracks as intended as a copyright protection, none were going to pinch and play a squeaky song, laterly spatial listening instructions have been included in download pages and were upto the user to follow, now above are being replaced by soley the richer sounds inside the albums. That means all future playing directly without a required plug-in, and at the same time certain tracks have had their eq tweaked for universal depth, giving an all over warmer pleasure.

The path to perfect audio listening is in selecting the key strength percentage.

They will soon replace the above standards . . .

Flatten Your Equalizer . . .

They really do sound much finer, no longer needing a particular player...

I need to make this effort, hopefully all tracks will suit...

. . . s e l f r e f r e s h . . .

Coming to you from futures past . . .

! like it because of it's grounding in it's everspacial atmosphere, softly awaken . . .

I consider that perhaps Head (Video2020) is my all time best musical achievement. Mainly because i played to a sudden unknown track of amazing drum work, where i was so taken that i only needed to hear a little, my spirit urgently needing to stop and immediatly replay it while starting down with my guitar, i simply just went straight to it, completing notes i had never placed together before, all the while experiencing a small musical epiphany for an expansive over-reaching soundscape, and i seem to have attained that one wish, all while on the move, and literally all in one playing. I have had such experiences before but nothing so strongly. It's not a song, it isn't meant to be anything more than what any one of us will experience as our mind quickly navigates any sudden new situation one day out of the blue, the clues and relational knowledge while excitedly working through to a calm conclusion. A really beautiful moment for me.

...as the music turns so too does the shape change

the reflection of all feeling playing out...

And the album i'm most happy with is Future Lifetimes (Video2020) because the thin coloured
tinsel and wrapping foil music allows you to escape for forty eight minutes...

...it also serves to answer that if you are looking to help yourself over time

...you may just find something where nothing else exists

Not forgetting The HeAdCrAsH (Video2020)

...while not religious, a big thank you

...only the universe

For those hearing my music stories for the first time, until you've wished to put all that has come

I actually like friend critics . . .

or, Facing the music of our peers as we move through life . . .

Better to have tried than to have never known. Your comment that you knew what i was
intending to trying (Jeff2) for seemingly in Meanwhile One (from MindYou), is that I'm
actually pleased with what i was able to get as far along as i did with it. It is not
perfect. Only thing i'd like to put a comment for, ever, really. And yes, you silly thing,
of course I am proud of all of it, nothing to be ashamed of as you suggested of my thinking
out loud, i only asked to see as a bounce off your own musical talents, which further you
warned me to avoid, but in it all i wondered if you have any self questioning ethic in your
own sphere?, sorry that's just me, nothing at all, be well.

. . . i learned a long time ago to just try be happy with what you do !

. . . it's never the end of trying to do better !

. . . it keeps you steady !

[ ...feel, and you will be rewarded ! ]

If you happen upon this . . .

To J.T, i saw your video, some interesting things . . .

The way to pick up the bass is this, some are into strumming, which you're way better than
me, but this is about picking or even between strums, if that's in your track . . .

Idea is to work your way through your tune normaly through middle and bottom strings but
picking up on the e, a, by getting slightly busier, think about it like you want to be your
own bassist inside the same timing . . .

Playing and plucking with deeper as you go, hope that makes sense ?

I'm more used to piecemeal playing than long strums...

Always liked certain your songs !

Good on ya !

Add-in a 470 for sharper, or 563 for a strong mid, or 683 cap in parallel with above diodes for deeper.

Now patch cable this between your overdrive and flanger on medium settings.

...all mine are from olde gear scavenges, plump l/brown ceramic

...both pickups

Stepping it up a little more...

Using a simple Guitar-Filter-Amp box gives you the ability to try many different configurations for your own effects...

Elsewhere i think i pointed out that you can't have 1 or 3 1N69's on the go, only two in parallel...

But it turns out you can have the following for a smoother, almost screamer...

( that's if you put the filter between odrive / flanger on mid settings )

By now you should have three sets of two connectors...

( that have two terminal holes each, see video )

They're just holders soldered together...

So you can add - in / out...

Try this : 2x1N69 plus 683cap plus 2x1N69's again.

...it's prettymuch as far as you can take it,

...all those oscillations !!!

...add more bass !!!

...smoothest !!!

Finding these glass diodes : search : crystal radio signal diode

Unless you're going to your local shop, have a read of this online double naming note...

https://www.petervis.com/Radios/making-a-crystal-radio/crystal-radio-diode.html

...just get the one i've used in the the video

History, things i've tried, for those who may be interested, an rf-choke, an impedance audio

transformer, pigtails, a few freq' differing cores, but nothing of note happened, various other bits,

no transistors yet, even tried a microwave rated diode, i might go back to trying a standard

electrolytic cap see if that does anything ?

A little further down past here you'll find a switched version...

The circuit is purposely updating all the time now...

That's basicaly what it's all about...

Finding those sounds...

Enjoy !

Boxes, Pedals...

...i think it'll become getting the sound you want more directly !

Guitar Effects.

Jeff's Simple Reverb Formula...

Whether recording through laptop or playing directly out to amp there's always a way...

Remember, reverb is when you wish to enjoy listening to music as if you are reclining in a room setting through your headphones. Just like three dimensional images you only need a very little colour separation to make it come to life, it's the subtle sights and sounds that refine our minds, moving between nuances is what helps give us our daily joy, not loud crashing changes that only serve to disrupt and get our senses lost. The echo-form that some reverbs rely on are impossible to listen to, with this diodes version it's the easy difference between usuall stereo audio towards you and finer shifted music coming into your ears.

Take two 1N69 (glass, germanium) diodes soldered in parallel with signal towards amp.

By using the two you are producing a warmer sound output to ears.

Inline construction guitar cablebox into laptop.

Positive side only.

Take a look at these...

...diagram also illustrates another way to switch in/out between plain sound or a few different effects

...i started my electronics ' switching ' interest way back, you can do alot with them

...stay logical calm, and don't delay changing any circuit mistakes

Further...

Too often ideas come about with everything but the actual info...

Take a written note of all your diodes values, place each type in their own (old fuses) box...

Always care for your fine clear glass diode's, and avoid rubbing the name off by holding the legs instead...

Okay, so thinking back to my old crystal radio making days a 1N60 equals an OA91, and the 1N69 isn't likely to be far removed from a 60 value. Deciding to harvest components out of an old amp only playing one side i find what i think is some OA90's. Seems when i did my drawing i didn't put two thin black bands on the 1N69, as the 1N60/OA90 i pulled out only had one thicker black band, sorry. These one's don't have anything except a 1F or 1J marked on a few each, no full name. Connecting them up anyway, one 1N60/OA90 is super grunty almost to the impossible, and two of them was less grunty than one alone, but more grunty than my two 1N69's in my original idea. In the end you could switch them over between 2x1N69 (mild) and 2x1N60 (harsh). One other point, the harsher one or both probably means how absolute the cats whisker is from the plate, not every diode is the exact minute same distance. A close lens can see through the glass quite well. The one thing all those online diode drawings don't show is the small sharp point on the end of the cats whisker that just barely touches the other end, this is the very nature of how they do their thing. The point tickles the germanium plate setting up the signal, the miniature version of how they originaly did it. The whisker has a very slight bend so to form a spring as it finely oscillates with the signal making it's way thru'. You can see the reflection of the tip in the plate. I may try a brighter closer sharper image later on.

( misc: Germanium, a metalloid, has 32 electrons and protons each, with 4 valence electrons. )

Like these pictures i shot for the project

STYLES

For what my soul has been through in life I enjoy listening to Border Radio, a little raw blues and old hits. I refuse to listen to angry and monotonous music. I don't like violent songs, singing it can still get the message across. Other than that I perhaps suprisingly listen to orchestral music via wide stereo mode which when played quietly moves between rooms just nicely. Put a speaker over there too . . .

Or songs where, and i can really only think of one particular track, where the vocalist or the whole lyrics just even alone sounds like a forced singing or belief, it came out decades ago and has been performed by someone in recent times, always have the impression there's an uneasy feeling, and control by one or others, nope - i like the nice warm easy songs with real love . . .

Actually, don't prefer instruments driving right over the vocalist either, hmmm . . .

Guitar Projects...

After mounting a 1/4in Stereo panel socket because you have no Mono's left, but find you
need to pull the plug half out just to hear your guitar sound again, know you can't just solder
L/R together to turn it mono, appreciate some old stereo versions from your junkbox were
setup differently inside than for modern plug requirements, stereo and mono respectfully for
their own type plug, what's happening is pin-1 and pin-2 are working against the signal,
probably from pressing down against an internal Gnd, just select and solder the Gnd and
choose either a L or R, check with a meter continuity test (set on ohms for 000 reading) to
know for sure.

...and check with the plug you're going to use too !

On my circuits list . . .

Anyone remember this from about the 1980's . . . ?

Actually years ago there was a small Wide Stereo Circuit too. Small pcb about 30 x 100mm.

It appeared in a magazine way down in a corner of the page along with a parts list and etch diagram, one of the very simplest versions of that circuit placed between input and amp, i briefly had it going except for the too high input signal, but have no idea the magazine title anymore, it may have been a reader contribution or even an unrelated mag.

Do let me know if you have a copy, cheers !!!

The old ' Mic not coming out of speakers ' syndrome should never have happened . . .

I have never seen a block diagram for the sound card on my xp laptop. But if it was my choice I'd have along the side of the hardware a Stereo Mic socket, a Stereo Line socket, and Headphones, simple. In the software Volume control in the systray i'd keep it pretty much the same except have a tickbox to accept the signal from any of those, and a second tickbox below each, so we could combine that and another. Of course, the Stereo Mix would be renamed to Soundcard Main and have a tickbox below that to accept above outputs, and whether output all or only a few. And all recordable.

Why should we need to go and buy a second sound card ???

. . . still laptops sold that way these days too !!!

Suggestion box: The only improvement would be to have the heavier sound part have a knob to
control its presented volume back a little as to give better weighted audio to the ears. A
sort of balance control for the widen, per say. Perhaps actually on either of those.
Example, the drums maybe hitting harder than harmonic guitar, some knob ?
Because often playing through normal stereo it's never experienced.

Setting up your Recording Computer . . . ?

Possibly have both Playing and Recording Audio pages open at the same time.

So you can realtime adjust your Guitar Input, and Headphones Volume.

. . . may not be for every laptop but worth a try

Audio Levels XP v1.0 (HTA)

Settings.

Depending on your Laptop, hearing your Input can be a challenge . . .

With your guitar volume set to full, and tone highest, do the following to find your best input level . . .

Your 'play volumes page' may include an unrealized 'mic slider' - so set that to half, and set your usual 'record page mic' to the 'best lowest level' you feel won't overdrive your sound card. As you are both 'playing and listening' adjust your 'play page record slider' finely up or down.

You may also need to Boost your mic input to gain a normal amount of input. The bottom of the properties page for your mic appears with its lowest edge dropped below your taskbar, hold the header and raise it up a little with your pointer. With your speakers down a bit, click the boost tickbox.

If this gives a better overall input level then keep it, if not untick and use your existing sliders set higher.

You want to arrive at just enough gain without hiss, but not overdriven, to hear all your fine sounding strings clearly. Mark alongside knobs and sliders those settings, or just jpg snapshots into a folder, or perhaps write them into notepad and save for later.

Perform short audacity recordings to show the scale of your input, delete and do another . . .

As an example my old xp laptop 'record page mic slider' is set to around three from the bottom and without the boost ticked, and the 'play volumes mic slider' is almost half from the bottom, which gives a not too thin nor broad recording result in audacity, around 4mm from the top of the soundwave.

The importance of doing these things is not just to have stable recordings of your efforts, but to also have a reference to go back to after changing types of guitar or other instruments.

A few other things can exist too, like plugging your guitar into the 'mic input' but needing to select 'stereo mix' mostly comes down to what the Input was actually intended for in its design.

And, the only other is when you need to choose which soundcard gives you the best abilities.

Play and Record on . . .

Also, try bringing your Drums from another Mini-laptop with Equalizer to give the kit the tone you need for the track on your Main machine.

...try adjusting 1000Hz and 4000Hz sliders

Stop Pressuring Yourself...

One of the greatest Guitar Lessons of all time is...

Just a little but important note here, some people when they start out get all worried they're not going to get their fingertips into place at the next chord in time, that the ball of each finger will falter before your pick comes down on the strings, and how embarrasing that will make them feel, all of us have this at some moment. All you need to understand is so long as whatever you do on your guitar is all at the same played timing in your head, then whatever small slightly out of place note - by the time it reaches your audience and the rest is still following along in like timing then very few will notice, and shame if they put their hand up ! It's all fine, just get better !

...this really is where practice stops this !!!

...keep going on past a bad chord !!!

...won't be anything soon !!!

...unheard !!!

|

[ ...the other BIG one is, '
...my fingertips are too big to play ! ' NO they are not ! ]

[ ...there's been some pretty big guys/gals fingers out there over decades ! ]

[ ...very rarely ever stopped them making quality non-buzzy sounds ! ]

[ ...re-orientate how your fingertips come down overhead pointy ! ]

...keep enjoying and playing and writing sounds !!!

...avoid being obvious about them !!!

...yay !!!

Animation Class : Enjoyment further than you think...

The following simple tutorial uses Gif Animator or LE light editions...

1 - Slow, or gradualy slow, or speed up, your first few frames as an introduction.

2 - Gradually decrease the speed by a few a time, upto something interesting, pause !

3 - Flow : If the animation goes nowhere and comes to the end, copy all onto the end of the
list, then while just those are selected use reverse order, go back to the midpoint and
remove the duplicate frame, and then save. It will play forward and reverse, so ensure the
content is suitable for such an edit first. Set all frames to same speed throughout.

4 - And similarly, if you wish to highlight a part of a long animation for the end viewer, then as
that section begins to arrive, add a few timers to increase the duration, literally 3 or 5
per frame, 5 used over three frames becomes 10 and... until by the time the main appeal is
showing it is at its very best appropriate slower speed for whatever it is, and now on the
way out gradualy increase the speed back, at the same rate per each frame you just did
before, until it's at the files' standard existing speed. Intensive editing but can be worth
the effort. Perform in a limited way, 20 frames from content highlight and then return.

5 - On the rare occassion you may like to have a little fun applied to your .gif image, then try
Flip Horizontal or Vertical if it would look more sensible. You also try a Rotate effect if
some part of the content would be seen more sensibly by the end viewer.

6 - So your .gif anim is all hard and without contrast, try opening it in the latest vdub and apply
a little brightness and or contrast in the correct plus / neg percentages, use Export.
( ...also a good moment to add a very lite hue, say 3 red brings the detail out ).
( ...works best on greyscale styled files, brings feeling onto image ).

7 - Your excellent .avi needs to become a .gif then use something like Gif Construction Set.
( ...before converting save-out a shortened .avi to be used, not your whole file ! ).

8 - To blank-out a dated piece of text, put it through vdub with the logoaway plugin.
( ...either use the straight black box, or finely blurred rectangle ! ).

9 - If a once repeat play desired, perhaps pause the last frame by around 200.
( ...500 is too long for the average human eye to mind ratio for people ! ).

10 - SLOW your animation down for people to make for a sensible view !!!
( ...too often speedy minds set their .gif way too fast for everyone else )

...or even simply adjust an animation back to a realistic speed !

...warning : please use the Crop function very sparingly !!!
( ...supply the whole content untouched, unfinicky ! ).

...and please avoid using Optimize on the file !!!
( ...you may want to future edit ! ).

|

...finaly, do just remember to treat ALL future .gif's as unique from then on !

...
means not applying ' widespread changes ' without knowing !

...see what individual edits have been added / removed !

...use only a lite touch to any of your effects !

...always keep an original file !

. . . Enjoy !!!

J I F F I E S

Your camera only films so fast, and that can be slow.

I'm going to solve a little problem for Animation folks out there.

There has been a conversation going on online the state of a gif in it's form.

It goes that you cannot speed up such a playing file beyond setting 0 zero.

And in any case the browser you play it through is normaly slower.

This is not entirely true friends as you will see, read on...

Always said know your subject and you can solve.

In this case it's know all of existing software.

Take one Gif Animator, even the lite vers.

Dedicated programs make available accuracy.

Sometimes that means the ability to assemble.

And render the animation just a little faster.

So as to edit your depiction and see the output.

Take one SnagIt program and set the capture rate.

Play the animation from the editing program screen.

All the while finely recording a number of times length.

Output the recording and load through the editor and trim.

Pass this through perhaps one more time before quality loss.

Incrementaly you've sped up your file up, where you could not.

Ensure you tick which colour resolution you require, and save file.

The whole thing works well on logo's and photorealistic pics alike.

. . . sense and sensibility for your viewers please !

. . . slow for slow, faster if you need to !

. . . appreciate imagery !

. . . happy !

Check your House for Earth pole !!!

Many old Earth's are simply strapped to your underhouse pipes...

Here's an important lesson for those who have had to replace their inlet pipe recently...

One day you've realised the water pressure is low so you go check to find the water meter is ticking over just fine, that water must still be flowing just fine, and as you walk back to your house realise there's a puddle underfoot, under the grass, realising your old cast iron pipe from half a century ago has rusted out and urgently needs replacing, so you get onto it, and they come and dig a channel and lay a thick blue synthetic pipe for you, and your water is back on again, yay !

What you may not get to appreciate for many future years, is that your house no longer has any form of Earth pole, and that you have all been potential victims of electrocution. The person who installed your new pipe will have no idea about this requirement, and is up to you to ensure all people and the building are protected properly !

Go climb around under your house this coming weekend and check for yourself !!!

You NEED to ensure touching all AC Power devices is safe !!!

You need to install an Earth pole TODAY !!!

Talking about sound, if you're waiting for a company to pickup their phone and all you get is automated music and advice then just turn your handset over and rest it on the desk, get a cardboard tube from somewhere and place it over the speaker hole so you can hear when your call is answered.

The tube behaves as a mini amplifier so you can keep doing things while waiting for long periods.

Old Projects Box . . .

Pulled some of these open and tested them again today . . .

Amazing any of them still even work seeing as we used to chop up and use those readymade rca vcr cables !!!

These ones had either no continuity on the ground side each, so don't know how signal only worked ?

Rest had a red plug but the white strand went to it, same with other, lazy product care !!!

. . . anyway put new leads on the Gain, and the Hiss filter and worked again !

. . . you can convert SOME vcr/amp filters to Guitar ones !

. . . plus a tone pot cap filter somewhere ?

. . . try yours too !

Stargazer

Some nights are brilliant...

Adjust your eyes by closing briefly first...

Want to see satellites, shooting stars, spacecraft ?

There's only a very few things you need before watching the stars.

Check the online cloud conditions, put a wooly hat on, and perhaps winter gloves.

Next find yourself the most long duration chair you can sit in, this could be a thick
high-back office chair with cushions leveled so you can leave your head back on the top
while moving slowely in an arc with your feet. Or you could go for the airbed out on the
lawn, particularly good because it rests the spine and neck bones while looking directly
upwards, the only real closest clearly viewing is directly overhead, so, ideal.

Watching out means knowing at least a basic level of which stars are common to your own
country or region, and it can help if you're aware of which weather satellites are likely to
pass overhead up and down past the poles, or those ones that tumble through space, their
panels reflecting momentarily as they throw light, plus a bit of astrology helps too, where
your stars and moon are for this part of the year.

Keep a low light torch pad pen to take notes if you see something to check later. Remember
when noting to put one of your own landmarks in, like the garage roof angle right next to
you, and the stars you see off to that one side. Proportions of each separate thing to
another is all you have to keep in mind. So when you look back in a few days it still makes
sense, don't forget north, date and time.

Don't forget to count or time things that flash or come back around again over time.

If really keen, you can always start a viewing log, use a hardcover with lines.

Next step can be a hand telescope or binoculars to see further.

Or, full telescope with stand with various optics.

Know all the normal expectations.

Check your eyewear.

Have fun !

( ...avoid lots of those yummy snacks ! )

( ...looking is not eating ! )

MAGIC

The black arts they say . . .

Helens Milk Trick, Pen and Teller: Fool Us.

Not normaly into any of this, but after watching the show, and reading similar accounts...

https://www.reddit.com/r/FoolUs/comments/9bmouf/s_5_ep_6_helen_coughlan_milk_rob_trick_discussion/

Both lid holes are different sizes, right is larger. The ring on her left hand index finger is perhaps used as a guide or magnetic, no matter the rod exterior. Appears to be a shadow of a shallow built-in glass funnel below glass as she moves it past combined prepositioned's white sleeve and base with correct hole size, the overhead stage lights at their required steep angle actually project it onto the white surround behind not hide it, from within the glass downwards, that's if it really is glass not just a pristine clear plastic, the glass also seems to have a couple millimetres of base edge around it so we don't get to see the actual base surface and thus possible hole, or trapdoor. Literally why else would the glass need to be encapsulated in cardboard tube and ends? She does this trick quite fast-handedly, cannot see any of this on following side view due to patterning on glass but when she pours the 'milk' it does seem to get momentarily attached to something on its way down, not just the glass inner wall, and per overhead view she pours to one side of the center of the glass, infact further away to the furthest glass inner wall so as to miss the top of the possible funnel opening, indeed hiding the opening with jug pourer and milk, might pour out the bottom accidentaly if any further back towards center. Never seen milk that white, it seems like a possible polymer, too thick around insides of jug on overhead view, this might offer a kind of coagulating sealing type property between the two surfaces of both outer rod and possible inner glass slim funnel, thick friction not allowing 'milk' through. The only reason the node atop the rod is to block the exit underneath of liquid escape, think viscosity, remember you would need a thinner end to find the way in first, before her little finger flips any small sliding door over to trap the 'milk' inside. Never actually drinks any 'milk' but guises as she might in the final moment. At the end as she turns away with the rod out the bottom, can clearly see what appears to be an upper rod inside lower, but this may be just a trick of momentary light, but basicaly i believe the rod is most likely one, it does go through the top skin surface pressure of the 'milk' and then a slight finding wiggle into the shallow tubelike funnel, out the bottom hole with finger guidance and closure, a very very slightly wetter look about the rod as its quickly laid down while still holding the glass. All items for the trick except the rod were already on the stand ready to perform.

Of course through all of these such online accounts the author of this magic must surely be curious about all this when they know full well the techniques already, please take it as a pinch of sugar in our viewing enjoyment. Thank you for making us think.

It's a great trick.

RARE

It's rare, or even just a once single time in life you find what might have been a perfect juxtaposition in a younger you, well ... i think i may have found one ... that never seemed to be allowed to ever take place as a boy ... picture i'm that kid on the bike in Loving Generation (Rob Sinclair 2005) ...leaving all the interesting and lovely things behind as i cycle flat-out around the country/seaside because i'd much rather go see things ... and it's a hugely beautiful day out by myself seeing the sights or bits of places i'd never known at the end of some other beach or whatever and people who know me wave on the way back home too ... and i get home and a better mum than i had gives me a hug and welcomes me in the door ... but before i go off to bed i stay up and see a video back in the day on our new ? colour telly of these two gorgeous singers with Shame Shame Shame (Cher/TTurner 1975) ...it'd be a complete mindblow for some young guy who wished every day would've been as great !!!

...still can't or don't want to see the entire other side of this extremely common scenario for those times yet ? I purposely left this out for a while. During those decades and perhaps even more now young folks have been growing up with any old unseen things being allowed but themselves and the parents too crush anything they don't understand while their own are doing far and away worse than just observing life around them and in media, themselves stepping well beyond the above innocence, yet so unbalanced believe or have decided to ' show ' like some version of roadrage brainspeak the innocent things are actualy something they're not whatsoever. And lying to others, not just that original controlling, is disgusting is non moral is non responsible, is non best guiding adults around each other daily, is what breaks persons for life for no other good reason as self righteousness by the few who think or grandly wish to make out they know to others...
